What diseases are reportable under RIDDOR?

A

Skin Diseases like Occupational Dermatitis, Skin Cancer.​
Lung diseases such as: Occupational Asthma, Asbestosis.​
Infections such as : Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, Tetanus.​
Things like Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome and White Finger.

What should an accident report form contain?

A
  • Short description of how accident happened and details of resulting injuries. Date and time of accident. ​
  • Records name and address of victim and the responsible person recording it (eg first aider) ​
  • When completing to comply with RIIDOR the appropriate section must be completed to confirm it has been reported. ​
  • Personal information on form must be kept confidential to comply with data protection act 1998.

What should a near miss investigation form contain

A

Why-To determine the cause or causes of an incident ​
-To identify any risks, hazards, systems or
procedures that contributed to the incident. ​

         -To recommend corrective action to prevent 
           similar incidents. ​

Who-Should only be investigated by people with relevant knowledge about the type of work involved at the time of the incident. ​

      - Relevant workers should be involved in the 
       investigation. ​

      - Report should answer 5W’s and how. ​
      - Should include witness details.

A

Hazard- A physical situation with potential to cause harm or injury,
damage to property, damage to the environment or combination
of these.

Risk- The likelihood of an injury to yourself and others or damage to
property.
