RI Sims Flashcards
Minimum fuel approach
Remain clean until 30 seconds before glide path intercept.
Then, gear down, flaps half, and adjust power/nose attitude simultaneously to catch VSI
Min Fuel ILS
Advise ATC you will remain 200 until glidepath intercept.
Glide slope needle coming down serves as 30 second warning. Configure and capture glidepath.
Emergency Fuel GCA
Controller will direct aircraft on to FAC at minimum vectoring altitude and glidepath intercept much closer to the runway. Downwind to final will be a continuous turn. Intercept final 4 to 5 DME from end of runway.
Low Oil GCA power setting
78 - 87 %
Low Oil GCA
Set power 78-87
Control airspeed with speed brakes
Maintain 200 KIAS inside GCA box
Configure aircraft, retract speed brakes, and lower nose when you receive “up and on glidepath”
Use nose to maintain glidepath and 175 KIAS
When runway is made extend speed brakes.
Upon touchdown reduce power to idle.
Low Oil GCA missed approach
Simultaneously retract speed brakes and raise landing gear.
Slowly rotate nose to climb attitude.
When above 300 AGL & 140 KIAS raise flaps.
Power should only be reset if positive rate of climb is not achieved.
Two Way Communication Failure
Squawk 7600 mode 3, make all calls in the blind, attempt to remain VMC.
AVEFAME if unable to remain VMC
Thunderstorm Penetration
HALT
Heat -pitot heat on Airspeed & Altitude -250 KIAS, stabilize airspeed and attitude -fly shortest path through the storm Light -turn all cockpit lights to bright including floods Tight -lower the seats and tighten lap belts
Minimum Fuel Advisory
Mandatory call to ATC when fuel status has reached a state where, upon reaching your destination, you cannot accept any undue delay.
Emergency Fuel
Your fuel state has reached a point where you require priority handling and special consideration to land safely.
When do you declare EMERGENCY FUEL?
any time on-deck fuel state will be less than 350 lbs or LOW FUEL caution has illuminated
SPIT check
Strobes, Pitot Heat, IFF Normal, Taxi/Landing Lights on,
Manual fuel normal, NO AV BIT, VCR (Auto/on/off)
DME to lose 1,000 ft @ idle with boards out
1 (6,000 fpm descent)
Descent Penetration Checks
- Canopy Temp - 3 o’clock
- Master Arm - SAFE
- CONTR AUG - ALL
- WX - Checked
- NAVAIDS - Describe
- STBY ATT INDICATOR - ERECT
- STBY BARO ALT - (Kollsman setting)
