What days of illness is bronchiolitis worst?
Days 3-5 worst
Lasts 10-14 days
2 types of CMPI?
1) IgE mediated
- angiodema etc
2) Non-IgE mediated (more common):
- reflux, abdo discomfort, constipation, diarrhoea, atopic eczema
- <1yr of age
Mx –> hydrolysed feeds, slowly reintroduce milk e.g. malted milks
Target feed for babies up to 6m (pre-weaning)?
Weight x 150 = total volume (mls) in 24h
E.g. 24h total volume for 3.5kg baby –> 525/ml
Typical age that intussusception affects?
3m-2y
When does malrotation present?
First few days of life - bilious vomiting, abdo distension etc
Cardiac defect most associated with Trisomy 21?
AVSD
What type of organism is Strep. pneumoniae?
Gram +ve diplococcus
What can typically be seen on a CT/MRI in encephalitis?
Focal changes on temporal lobe
Mx of encephalitis?
Aciclovir for HSV
Supportive for others
HR & BP in raised ICP?
Low HR
High BP
How can absence seizures be induced?
Hyperventilation
What is Kawasaki disease?
Medium vessel vasculitis
What investigation is required in Kawasaki’s?
Echo –> look for coronary artery aneurysm
HSP triad?
1) abdo pain
2) rash
3) arthralgia
Mx of HSP?
1) analgesia
2) steroids (abdo US first)
