Q

What is the difference between solution and solubility?

A

Q

What is filtration?

A

Filtration is when you have a mixture of a solid and a liquid, you use the filter paper to separate these by poring the mixture through the paper, the paper allows the liquid the pass through, but leaves the solid behind.

Q

What is evaporation?

A

Evaporation is a separating technique in which two liquid are bonded, you heat them and the liquid with a lower melting point evaporates leaving the other liquid.

Q

What is distillation ?

A

Distilation is a separating technique in which two liquid are bonded, you heat them and the liquid with a lower melting point evaporates leaving the other liquid, then this liquid will be condensed by a condenser and drip out the other end pure.

Q

What is chromatography?

A

Chromatography is a separating technique in which you find the true colours in ink. It works by putting a sheet of chromatography paper on a stick, dabbing some ink on it and lowering it into a beaker of water. The water rises up the paper and spreads out the ink and reveals its colours.

Q

How do we decide which technique to use?

A

We can decide which technique to use by seeing the state of matter of the mixture.e.g solid and liquid=filtration
