Physics Yr.7 Flashcards
Plane mirror
A plane mirror is a mirror that reflects light perfectly
Specular reflection
This is when the reflection is perfectly done. e.g. a ray is shone at a plane mirror at 45degrees it will be reflected at 45 degrees.
Diffuse scattering
This is when light rays are shone on a normal object, the object will then reflect it all over the place.
Law of reflection
The law of reflection is when the incident ray and the reflected ray are at the same angle.
Incident Ray
The incident ray is the ray that will be reflected but is shone at the mirror
Reflected Ray
The reflected ray the incident ray after it has bounced off the mirror.
Refrection
Refraction is when a light ray bends due to the change in medium.e.g. Light is traveling in air but then has to travel through glass.
Angle of refraction
The angle of refraction the the angle in between the refracted ray and the normal.
Medium
The medium is what light or sound waves travel on, however the light ray doesn’t have to but the sound wave does.
Cornea
The cornea is the protective lens that sits in front of the pupil
Lens
The lens refracts the light onto the retina which makes an image.
Retina
The retina is the back of the eye that makes an image
