Reversible Reactions Flashcards
0
Q
What do endothermic reactions do?
A
They take in energy.
1
Q
What is a reversible reaction?
A
They are chemical reactions in which the products can re-form the reactants.
2
Q
What do exothermic reactions do?
A
They release energy.
3
Q
How is ammonia formed?
A
It is formed when gaseous hydrogen and nitrogen react together.
4
Q
What happens in the reversible reaction of ammonia?
A
The higher the temperature the lower the yield of ammonia.
The higher the pressure, the higher the yield of ammonia
5
Q
What is ammonia produced by?
A
The haber process.
6
Q
What are the conditions used in the Haber process? (3 THINGS)
A
- 450 degrees (this increases rate of reaction, but reduces yield)
- High pressure, 200 atomospheres. (increases brb rate of reaction and yield)
- Use of iron catalyst (increase rate of reaction)
