What is the difference clinically between tyrosinase positive and tyrosinase negative oculocutaneous albinism?
Tyrosinase positive will have increasing pigmentation with age
What is the management of IRVAN?
IRVAN stands for Idiopathic retinal vasculitis, aneurysms, and neuroretinitis. It is ddx of exclusion so systemic w/u is required. PO prednisone has shown little help, often PRP is warranted.
What is the definition of Zone 2 in regards to ROP?
A circle that extends from zone 1 (posterior 60 degrees) and goes to the nasal ora serrata.
What percentage of systemic lupus erythematosus patients will have retinopathy?
3-10%
What percentage of males have dichromacy?
2%; dichromacy is only 2/3 functioning color receptors
What percentage of males have anomalous trichromatism?
5-6%; anomalous trichromatism is 3/3 functioning color receptors (L, M, S) but one or more does not function normal and causing these individuals to use different proportions of their color receptors.
What are the 3 different types of color receptors?
M, L, S

What color disorders have an AD inheritance pattern? Most others are X-linked.

What is the typical inheritance of pattern dystrophies?
AD; pattern dystrophies are adult onset (usually midlife) and include adult onset foveomacular vitelliform dystrophy, butterfly dystrophy, reticular dystrophy, and fundus pulverulentus
What are relative contraindications for ICG use?
Iodide and shelfish allergy, liver disease and metformin use
