Q

What is the pathophysiology of IPF?

A
  1. Damage to alveolar lining
  2. Fibroblasts proliferate into myofibroblasts
  3. Myofibroblasts secrete elastic and reticular fibres
  4. Myofibroblasts proliferate but no apoptosis
  5. Collagen accumulates thickening the interstitium
