It is essentially when one sponsors another, by giving them a job, contacts, advice or even money and resources

-he was an architect who took inspiration from Paris
-in addition he was an astronomer and a mathematician

What was the purpose of the royal society?
-it was a society to improve the scientific study of nature
-built labs to help funding
(-the king also agreed to help support them)
-spread the use of microscope and telescope, sold to scientists in the capital

-to aid John Flamstead’s research in astronomy
-used to develop navigation since the navy was a very big thing in England
