16
Q

What is a Synapse?

A

A small gap between neurones

17
Q

How does the synapse transmit impulses to another neurone?

A

Electrical impulse travels along axon
This triggers the nerve-ending of a neurone to release chemical messengers called neurotransmitters
These chemicals diffuse across the synapse and bind with receptor molecules on the membrane of the next neurone
A new impulse is triggered and the impulse continues its journey
