Q

What is cellular respiration and why is it important?

A

Cellular respiration is when oxygen and glucose convert into carbon dioxide, water and energy. It is important because cells need energy to carry out functions.

Q

Describe the path that air takes through the mouth and into the blood

A

The air enters through the mouth and nose then travles down the throat. It flows through the larynx and enters the trachea. The air travels to the bronchi then briconhioles. Briocnhioles pass air to the alveoli. Capillaries then pass oxygen from the alveoli to the bloodstream.

17
Q

Why do capillaries over each alveolus?

A

To increase how much oxygen can be passed through the alveoli at once

18
Q

diffusion

A

Diffusion is when a substance moves from an area of high concentration to an area of lower concentration.

19
Q

Difference between breathing and cellular respiration

A

Breathing is the inhale of oxygen and exhaling of carbon dioxide whilst respiration is where cells use oxygen to break down sugar for energy.

20
Q

The connection between red blood cells and cellular respiration

A

Red blood cell transports oxygen to the cells so that they can obtain the sugar for energy.
