Q
What do you prescribe a patient with COPD to relieve acute bronchospasm?
A
Drug: Ipratropium bromide 250 micrograms/mL
Dose/route/frequency: 250-500 micrograms NEB PRN
If already taking tiotropium (in same class) = less likely to be effective, therefore:
Drug: terbutaline sulfate 2.5mg/mL
D/R/F: 5-10 mg NEB PRN
(as this is a Beta2 agonist, similar to salbutamol)
