Albuterol (Proventil, Ventolin)
INDICATIONS- Bronchoconstriction, asthma, COPD, CHF, bronchitis, bronchospasm, hyperK+
CONTRAINDICATIONS- Tachycardia, dysrhythmias (especially digitalis), synergistic w/ sympathomimetics, angioedema
DOSAGES- 2.5mg in 3mL
Diphenhydramine (Benadryl)
INDICATIONS- Allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, hives, motion sickness, hay fever, relief of acute dystonia, phenothiazine OD
CONTRAINDICATIONS- Acute asthma, cardiac hx, pregnancy, hypertension, infants, pts taking MAOIs.
DOSAGES- 25-50mg IM/IV/PO
Ipratropium Bromide (Atrovent)
INDICATIONS- Asthma, COPD, bronchospasm
CONTRAINDICATIONS- Hypersensitivity to soybeans, peanuts, alkaloids, & atropine. Bladder neck obstruction.
DOSAGES- 0.5mg in 3mL
Glucagon
Smooth muscle relaxant (off label), FBAO
1mg/3mL IM
Magnesium Sulfite
Bronchodilator
2mg over 10 min.
Oxygen
NC: 2-6LPM
NRB: 10-15LPM
BVM: High flow
ETT: High flow
Epinephrine Racemic (Micronefrin)
INDICATIONS- Bronchial asthma, prevention of bronchospasm, croup, laryngotracheobronchitis, laryngeal edema
CONTRAINDICATIONS- Hypertension, respiratory weakness, palpitations, tachycardia, dysrhythmias, nausea, vomiting, tremors
DOSAGES- MDI: 2-3 inhalations repeat every 5 min. PRN SOLUTION: dilute 5mL (1%) in 5mL NS, administer over 15 min.
Methylprednisolone Sodium Succinate (Solu-Medrol)
INDICATIONS- Acute spinal cord trauma, anavhyhylaxis asthma, COPD, bronchodilator for unresponsive
CONTRAINDICATIONS- Premature infants, systemic
DOSAGES- Acute spinal cord trauma: 30mg/kg IV over 30 min. followed by infusion: 5.4mg/kg/h. Asthma/COPD/anaphylaxis: 1-2mg/kg IV
