Respiratory Flashcards
What are the four basic modes of the Ventilator?
1) AC - Assist Control
2) SIMV - Synchronized Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation
3) APRV - Airway Pressure Release Ventilation
4) PS - Pressure Support
What are the basic settings within AC mode on the Ventilator?
1) RR - Minimum amount of breaths the PT will be allowed to take (12-18).
2) TV - Tidal Volume is the amount of air that will go into the PT’s lungs with each breath (400 to 800mL)
3) PEEP - Positive End Expiratory Pressure is the Pressure inside the lungs at the end of expiration. ( 5-10 cmH2O)
4) FiO2 - Fraction of inspired oxygen in TV. (Normal O2% is .21 or room air which is 21% oxygen).
What are the normal values for the following ABGs:
1) PaO2 (75-100 mmHg) - Amount of oxygen in arterial blood.
2) PaCO2 (38-42 mmHg) - Amount of CO2 In arterial blood.
3) pH (7.38-7.42) - Acidity
4) HCO3 (22-28 mEq/L) -
In a pulmonary artery wave form, the dicrotic notch represents closure of which valve?
Pulmonary Valve
If a junctional impulse reaches the atria and the ventricles at the same time, how will the P wave appear?
Not visible - hidden inside the QRS complex
