Q

explain why anaerobic respiration does not use oxygen

A

anaerobic respiration is used in shorter activities e.g. sprinting. During vigorous exercise your body cells may not have enough oxygen for aerobic respiration to take place, and so only a short amount/short burst of energy is released

Q

describe oxygen debt

A
  • occurs during anaerobic respiration
  • build up of lactic acid
  • continue to breath rapidly
  • an acid in the blood

The amount of oxygen required to remove the lactic acid, and replace the body’s reserves of oxygen
