Respiration Flashcards
1
Q
Where does glycolysis take place
A
In the cytoplasm
2
Q
Stages of glycolysis
A
Glucose gets phosphorylised. It’s then split into 2 triose phosphates. NAD becomes NADH and ADP + Pi becomes ATP. It is reduced into pyruvate. Produces pyruvate 2 ATP and 2 NAD
3
Q
what happens after glycolysis with aerobic respiration
A
it will go into the link reaction
4
Q
what happens after glycolysis with anaerobic respiration
A
pyruvate it turned into lactate
5
Q
stages of the link reaction
A
each pyruvate is oxidised by removing hydrogen. hydrogen is accepted by NAD to form NADH. CO2 is removed from each pyruvate. 2 acetyl groups formed. Coenzyme A is added to make acetyl CoA.
6
Q
stages of the Krebs cycle
