Resperation + Breathing Flashcards
Aerobic respiration
Needs oxygen to get energy from food
Anaerobic respiration
Doesn’t require oxygen
Oxygen is carried by the
Haemoglobin on red blood cells
Aerobic respiration takes place in
All the living cells In the human body aswell as in most animal and plant cells
Examples of anaerobic respiration
Yeast converts sugars to alcohol in fermentation
Nose
Breathe in, air is warmed, hair and mucous trap germs and dirt
Trachea
Carries air to the lungs, held open by rings of cartilage
Alveoli
Gas exchange talk place here - carbon dioxide out and oxygen in
Bronchus
One goes from the trachea to each of the lungs
Bronchioles
Smallest air tubes that go from the bronchus to the alveoli
Diaphragm
A muscle that flattens to start a breathe in
Test for carbon dioxide
Lime water turns milky
Test for water
Blue cobalt chloride paper turns pink
Test to show we produce water vapour during respiration
Breathe on a mirror you see water vapour
Resperation
Process that releases energy from food
