Aerobic resperation
Needs oxygen to release energy from food
Anaerobic resperation
Does not use oxygen to release energy from food
How is oxygen carried to our cells
Oxygen is carried to our cells by haemoglobin
Nose
Inhales oxygen
Mouth
To exhale carbon dioxide
Trachea (windpipe)
Carries air to and from lungs, held open with rings of cartilage
Bronchus
Carries air between the windpipe and lungs
Alveolus
Gaseous exchange of oxygen
Rib
Bones that protect lungs, heart etc.
Diaphragm
Sheet of muscle (base of chest) causes air to move in and out of the lungs
Intercostal muscle
Works with diaphragm (same function) allows rib cage to move
Larynx
Allows us to make sounds
Resperation
The release of energy from our food
