Parietal pleura that covers the mediastinum
Significant landmarks
First palpable vertebra: C7
Superior angle of scapulae: T2
Medial ends of scapulae: T3
Level with inferior angles of scapulae: T7
Level of jugular notch, sternal angle, transpyloric plane, subcostal plane
T3, T4/5, L1, L2
Auscultation of lungs
Anteriorly At apex- above clacvicle Around 3rd ICS- upper lobe Next to nipple- middle lobe of right and upper for left Round to the side for lower
Posteriorly - get patient to cross arms
At apex
Superior lobe- around medial end of scapula
Lower lobe- around 8th rib
