- Wind: atelectasis = MCC in 1st days
- Water: UTI from catheter –> check urine
- Wound: infection
- Walking: don’t walk –> DVT
- Wonder Drugs: fever caused by drugs

- acid fast to see if TB
- polarized light for foreign bodies
- silver stain or PAS for fungi (histo, blast, coccidio)
- wegener’s –> C-ANCA
- sarcoidosis: increased ACE and Calcium; hilar lymphadenopathy; schaumann bodies (laminated dystrophic calcification); asteroid bodies (stellate giant-cell cytoplasmic inclusions, look like stars)
* ACE = serum angiotensin converting enzyme. Synthesized by endothelial cells and macrophages.

- calcium and protein inclusions inside of Langhans giant cells as part of a granuloma.
