Resource management in the car industry Flashcards
Stock control
Lean production: reducing the most amount of waste possible
can reach peak efficiency
2 factors that are based on lean production:
- Jidoka
- Just-in-time
What is meant by ‘Jidoka’
When problems occur, production is stopped to fix the problem
Prevents any production of defective products
Just-in-time
Management of stock
Supply chain management
Delays in resources can delay the whole production process and wait time for customers
Decreases demand
Eg: Toyota had a shortage in microchips
Wait time for new cars went from 2-3 months to 18 months
This stopped the demand in new cars and an increase in purchasing old/used ones
