Subculture
A group with a distinctive set of values and behaviours who set themselves apart from wider society.
Norms
Patterns of behaviour expected of people in different situations.
Values
Important beliefs held by individuals and social groups.
Social Construct
An idea that has been created and accepted by the people in a society
Society
A group of people who have common interests and a distinctive culture.
Closed questions
Questions where’s there’s only one straight forward answer
Open questions
A question where the answers might vary.

Pilot Study
When sociologists do a trial or test run of a method.
Structured interview
More like a questionnaire with a pre-prepared list of questions (more planned)
Unstructured interview
There are themes they’d like to talk about but it’s not set in stone and can go off topic a lot. (more like a conversation)
Overt Observation
Means that you tell the people you are studying them.
Covert Observation
Means you don’t tell the people you’re studying them.
