Research Methods Flashcards
What is chi-squared
how much difference exists between the observed count in each table cell to the counts you would expect if there were no relationship at all in the population.
Negatively skewed
Distribution to the right because median/mode is greater than the mean
Positively skewed
Distribution to the left because mean is greater than mode/median
What is the independent variable
What up you are changing/manipulating
What is the dependant variable
What you are measuring
What is operationalisiation
How we measure the variables
What is random allocation
Chooses individuals for conditions entirely by chance with no regard for the will of researchers or participants preference
What is counterbalancing
Arranging a series of experimental conditions in such a way as to minimise the influence of extraneous factors.
What Is standardisation
All participants should be subjected to the same environment, information + experience. This includes the same instructions
