Research/design Lecture Flashcards
1
Q
Types of research designs
A
- Case study
- Single subject case designs
- Correlational studies
- Quasi-experimental
- Experimental deigns
- Systematic reviews and meta-analyses
2
Q
Case study
A
Detailed consideration is given to the development of a particular person/group over a period of time
3
Q
Single subject case design
A
Using repeated measures to really understand an individual’s variability
4
Q
Correlational studies
A
A design in which researchers aim to understand what kind of relationships naturally occurring variables have with one another
5
Q
Quasi-experimental
A
An empirical interventional study used to estimate the causal impact of an intervention on target population without random assignment
6
Q
Experimental design
A
Randomized clinical trials
7
Q
Systematic reviews and meta-analysis
A
- Review of treatment studies
- Meta-analysis
- Examination of studies’ effect size and calculate overall treatment effect size
- Considers variability within individual studies
- Looks at overall treatment effect across studies
- Can also be flawed and biased
