Q

Method of density practical (regularly shaped object)

A
  1. Measure the length, width and height of he object using the ruler
  2. Calculate the volume of the object using - volume = length x width x height
  3. Measure the mass of the object using the balance
  4. Calculate the density using - density = mass/volume
  5. Repeat for the other regular objects

Q

Method of density practical (irregularly shaped objects)

A
  1. Fill eureka with water and allow excess water to drain.
  2. Place empty measuring cylinder under sprout of can
  3. Submerge object in can and collect displaced water
  4. Record the volume of the displace water which is the volume of the object
  5. Measure the mass of the object using the balance
  6. Calculate the density using - density = mass/volume

Q

Thermal insulator of different thicknesses method

A
  1. Wrap five beakers in varying thicknesses of one material
  2. Fill each beaker with warm water, record the initial temperature and cover each beaker with paper lids.
  3. Repeat the experiments as before, measuring the temperature every 3 minutes
  4. Record your results and calculate the change in temperature for each beaker (initial temperature - final temperature).
