Assessment 1 Year 9 Flashcards
Speed formula
Speed = distance/time
M/s
I.e. 0.82m/900s
Speed definition
Speed is how far something travels in a certain amount of time.
Relative motion
This is how fast two things that are travelling compared to each other.
What is a distance graph
A distance graph shows how fast something moves. It shows the distance that something travels in.
The total length something travels in.
What does the “slope” in a distance graph show?
It shows the speed. If it’s diagonal, the object moves the same distance each second. If it’s a horizontal line, the object is stationery.
What does the “curve” in a distance-time graph
The curve shows the speed of an object is accelerating.
What happens to the speed of the molecules when the temperature is down?
It gets slower
Do smaller molecules of gas have more or less pressure
More pressure
Are there particles touching the inside or the outside ( i.e balloon )
More particles touching the outside
Is the atmospheric pressure is smaller or larger when you go up a mountain?
It is smaller as it is harder to breathe oxygen when you go up a mountain.
Do the particles have more kinetic energy when there is more pressure?
More kinetic energy
Is there more pressure deeper in water
More pressure
Is the side forces balanced or not?
They are balanced but the further you go down the more pressure.
Which one would float a ball or a flat shape
The flat shape
Pressure equation
Force/area
The more force… the … pressure
The greater the pressure
The greater the area… the … the pressure
The smaller the pressure
Unit of pressure
Pascal ( pa )
Why is a blunt scissor poor at cutting things?
It is because the part that it cuts has a large area
The forces on a stationery object are B
Balanced
A name for the highest speed when falling is T velocity
Terminal velocity
A stretched spring is in T
Tension
A moment is the T effect of a force
Turning effect
The force that keeps boats afloat is B
Buoyancy
Formula of a moment in force
Force x distance
If the anticlockwise is the same as clockwise it is an E
Equilibrium
