Q

Outline the practical procedure used to measure the effect of temperature on enzyme activity using trypsin and milk ?

A

Immerse equal volumes of trypsin and milk stored in different test tubes in a water bath for 5 minutes
Until temperature at equilibrium
Mix together and immediately start timing
Record time taken for the milk to be completely hydrolysed
Test atleast 5 temperatures with 3 repeats

Q

What is the effect of temperature on enzyme activity

A

As temperature increases kinetic energy increases so more ez complexes form.
After optimum temperature, bond in the enzymes tertiary structure break which changes the shape f the active site
Substrate and active site no longer complementary
Rate of reaction decreases
