The formation of a mature egg cell

The build up and breakdown of the endometrium, synched with the ovarian cycle (oogenesis)
Embryo
An early developmental stage of a babies life where organs develop and lasts about 8 weeks (during pregnancy)
Placenta
Develops in the uterus during pregnancy and provides a lifeline between the baby and the mother
(transfers nutrients, removes wastes, provides oxygen)
Hermaphrodite
An organism with male and female characteristics
Fetus
At week 9 an embryo is now considered a fetus, baby grows in size and weight and is less dependent upon the mother
Oxytocin
Stimulates uterine muscles to contract
Identical Twins
One fertilized egg splits and forms two embryo
Fraternal Twins
Two eggs are fertilized at the same time
Infertility
