What do the ovaries contain?
Each ovary contains follicles, structures that contain the oocyte (egg) and granulosoa cell
What is an Oocyte, what does it turn into?
An oocyte is a diploid - meaning it contains 46 chromosomes, Oocytes undergo a process of meiosis which then turns into a mature oocyte or a ovum (egg) - haploid which has 23 chromosomes.
Function of Granulosa Cells
Granulosa cells provide nutrients for the oocytes
Describe the Fallopian Tube and its function
Fallopian Tube also known as Oviduct, are 10-12 cm long and are the site for fertilization. The eggs travel into the tube via fimbraie and move through the tube using the cillia.
Describe the sperm journey..
Sperm passes vagina. Sperm goes through the cervix, through the uterus and up into the fallopian tube searching for the egg.
