Urethra
Carries urine from the bladder to the end of the penis. Semen also travels down this tube, a valve prevents them from traveling at the same time.
Seminal vesicle
Secretes additives into the sperm to help make up semen. Provides nourishment for sperm. Also acts as a buffer to help neutralize what is in the urethra and vagina
Prostrate gland
Helps expel the semen out of the penis during ejaculation
Cowper’s gland
Secretes a lubricant that assists intercourse as well as buffers that neutralize the acidic conditions inside the vagina and make urethra
Penis
Role is to deposit sperm into the vagina
Glans
Erectile tissue
Prepuce
Covering over the glans (foreskin)
Corpora cavernosa
Soft erectile tissue
Circumcision
Removal of all or part of the prepuce
Impotence
Inability for a male to have an erection due to phycological, or physical problems
Spermatogenesis
Beginning of sperm
Testes
Pair of oval glands that descend into the scrotum prior to birth
Ovaries
Glands that contain follicles at birth
