Testes and ovaries (primary reproductive systems)
What are gametes ?
Eggs and sperm
What are the function of Ovaries?
Release sex hormones and produce eggs
What are Oocytes?
Immature eggs that are released into the oviduct ( site of fertilisation)
What is the function of the uterus
It’s is the organ where the baby grows an develops
What phases of menstruation are there?
Menstruation phase, proliferative phase (in uterus ) and progestational phase (ovaries)
Hormones that control the menstrual cycle are?
Progesterone, oestrogen? Follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone
In the ovarian cycle what happens during meiosis 1
A primary Ooctye is surrounded by a follicle and a zona pellucid forms
What happens during meiosis 11
A secondary ochre forms and gets released from the ovaries to enter the oviduct( Fallopian tube)
What is the function of the Epididymis ?
Secrete substances for the maturation fo sperm
What glands form sperm?
Seminal vesicles, prostate gland and bulbourethral glands.
What are leydig cells?
They are in tissue between the seminiferous tubules that produce testosterone.
What role does LH have in sperm formation?
LH stimulate leydig cells
What role does FSH have in sperm formation?
Attach to Sertoli cells and are responsible for spermatogenesis.
