Period of time when the female is not in estrus; the non-breeding season

Not capable of producing offspring-this is not the same as “open”
Barren
When the rear portion of the fetus is presented first

Delivery of the fetus through an incision in abdominal and uterine walls
Cesarean section
The first milk given by a female after delivery of her young. It is high in antibodies that protect the young animals from invading microorganisms
Colostrum
Retention of one or both testicles in the abdominal cavity
Cryptorchidism
Refers that the no pregnant female has currently active estrous cycles
Cycling
Difficult birth
Dystocia
Time from one period of sexual receptivity In the female (heat) to the next
Estrous cycle
Period when female is receptive to mating
Estrus or heat
Period of pregnancy
Gestation
The time from breeding or conception of a female until she gives birth to her young
Gestation
Sex drive or the desire to mate (usually associated with males).
Libido
A term that designates animals that usually produce several young (a litter) at each pregnancy. Swine are multiparous
Multiparous
Refers to nonpregnant female (that is capable of becoming pregnant)
