What is the biological function of the female reproductive system?
The biological function of the female reproductive system is to produce egg cells and then grow a baby for long enough that it can be born and survive.
What do the ovaries contain?
They contain egg cells.
What is the biological function of the male reproductive system?
The biological function of the male reproductive system is to produce sperm cells and then release them inside the female reproductive system.
Where the two testes contained?
The two testes are contained in the scrotum which is a bag of skin.
What does the testes produce?
These testes produce sperm cells and the male sex hormones.
What happens during sexual intercourse?
The penis that swells with blood and stiffens. This is known as erection and allows the male to release sperm into a females vagina during sexual intercourse.
What are gametes?
Gametes are reproductive cells.
What is the male reproductive cell?
The male gamete is a sperm cell.
What is the female reproductive cell?
The female gamete is the egg cell.
How do you create a new organism?
To create a new organism the nucleus of the sperm and the nucleus of the egg have to join together this is known as fertilisation.
What is overduct lined with?
The overduct is lined with cillia.
What is cillia?
Cillia is tiny hairs on the surface of cells.
What is implantation?
Implantation is when the fertilised egg divids several to form a ball of cells called an embryo. The embryo attaches to the linign of the uterus and begins to develop into a baby.
What is an anther?
The part of the stamen where pollen is produced.
What is a filament?
A filament holds up the anther.
