A woman has a warty neoplasm - what is it associated with?
HPV 6/11 or secondary syphilis. Associated with koilocytes (raisin like appearance)
What is a STD caused by Klebsiella?
Granuloma inguinale - inguindal swelling, ulcers, abscesses, fistulas. Gram stains reveale cells with rod-shaped intracytoplasmic inclusion (donovan bodies)
What other genetics can a patient with Turner have?
45XO (complete monosomy), 45 XO/46XX mosaicism or 46XX partial deletion of one X. Monosomy is majority. usually mitosis issue.
What is tubulorrhexis?
rupture of renal tubules
What are three types of vaginal infex and what are the signs of each?
BActerial vaginosis - thin, off-white discharge with fishy odor. no vaginal inflammation. Trichomoniasis - Malodorousm gray-green, thin, frothy vaginal discharge with evidence of vaginal inflammation. candida - discharge is thick, white, and has a “cottage cheese appearance” as it adheres to the wall
What are the treatments of 3 types of vaginal infx
flagyl for bacterial vaginosis, flagyl for trichomoniasis also sex partner, flucanazole for candida.
What are common triggers for candida vaginitis?
Abx use, contraceptive use, steroid therapy, DM, immunosuppresion. KOH preparation is diagnostic.
What is the histology of fibro adenoma?
Spherical nodules that are cellular, often myxoid stroma that encircles epithelium-lined glandular and cystic spaces.
Primary amenorrhea in a patient with fully developed 2ndary sexual characteristics suggests what?
Imperforate hymen or Mullerian duct abnormality
What are differences between anterior and posterior urethral trauma?
Urethral injuries are most common in males because of their longer length. Anterior is from saddle injuries, posterior in pelvic fractures. High riding boggy prostate with full bladder and hematuria suggest urethral injury.
What is the relation between hydrocele and indirect inguinal hernia?
Both are caused by incomplete obliteration of the processus vaginalis? Hydrocele is when the scrotum and abdominal cavity leak water. Hernia is when abdominal organs pass through.
What is the difference btween theca internal and theca external?
Theca external is mostly for support and connective tissue. Interna is the one that makes androgens from cholesterol.
