What does the Abstract contain?
An overall overview of the entire report

Why is the abstract written last?
Allows researcher to include all the important parts in the abstract
What does the introduction contain?
Relevant background information
why the study is being conducted
narrowing to the aim and hypothesis
What is included in the method section of the report?
- design
- participants
- materials
- procedure
What does the results section contain?
descriptive statistics to present trends
Inferential statistics
What are inferential statistics?
Used to assess if results were due to chance or not
What does the discussion section contain?
explanation of findings
relationship to research
limitations and modifications
implications and further research
What does the explanation of findings have? (discussion)
in depth discussion about the data
What does the relationship to research contain? (discussion)
comparison of the findings to existing research
Why are references important?
Provides evidence to support claims
allows acknowledgement of the other researchers
