Q

Replication

A

The process in which the cell makes a complete copy of its DNA

-ensures the continuity of hereditary information by allowing copies of DNA to be transmitted from cell to cell

  1. Initiation: enzyme helicase begins to unwind or unzip the two strands of DNA at each origin of replication, topoisomerases work to untangle super coiling of DNA double helix ahead of the replication fork, primates functions by synthesizing, short RNA sequences that are complementary to a single stranded piece of DNA
  2. Elongation: DNA polymerase performs, the addition of new nucleotides to the new DNA strains, and also act as a proofreader to help prevent errors/mutations in construction from occurring.
  3. Termination
