Ebstein barr virus is causing cancer. What kind of cell? How?

A

= gamma herpes
Infection of non-permissive memory B-cell. Uses
EBNA + LP to keep the infection going.
EBNA + LMP= immortalization (oncogenic)

37
Q

Antibodies and time course for Mono

A

AntiEA (early antigen)- 7-35 days (disappears after symptoms)
Anti VCA (viral capsid antigen)= IgM antibody during early/acute infection, then switches to IgG antibody for life
Anti- EBNA at 3+ months

38
Q

Rash diagnoses!

  1. Vesicles mainly on trunk, 9-10 years old kid
  2. Rash/vesicles on face and extremities- stage of vesicles consistent throughout body.
  3. rash on neck trunk, thighs (preceded by fever)
  4. Vesicles/lesions- Non itchy, tender rash all over–not butt and genitals. palms and soles are common, around mouth.
  5. Papules on face, eyelids, genitals, underarms, thighs. NOT on palms/soles/mouth

A
  1. chicken pox
  2. small pox
  3. Roseola = HHV 6>7
  4. CoxA Hand/foot/mouth disease

Acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis
CoxSackA
Echo Entero 70

Q

You just got home and are about to get it on with a guy. Shit, he’s got a funky “not-itchy (pruritic)” vesicular rash. But, it’s not on his butt or genitals, safe to fuck?

A

No. Bad idea. CoxA Hand/foot/mouth causes this rash and is transmitted oral/fecal. Hope you haven’t already kissed the guy.
