Reperfusion Injury Flashcards
Accumulation
may be produced by cell or come from environment
Calcification=
hallmark of cell injury, duration
Inflammatory process
due to cell injury such as organ enlargement
Extent of injury helps
determine how to treat our patient
Lipids and glycogen
accumulate
hepatocytes
accumulation of fats due to alchol exposure
Glycogen stores are found in
liver and skeletal muscle
Melanin
is a pigment found on skin
Hemosiderin
iron containing molecule comes from hemoglobin and can accumulate
Glyogen, Melanin and Hemosiderin
can accumulate
Bilirubin
produced in liver and can cause hemolysis. So much hemoglobin to be processed- can cause jaundice
lipofusion
wear and tear pigment, comes from degenerating membranes
we see lipofusion
see in nerves because nerves live a long time, lipofusion on degenerating membranes in our neurologic system.
Calcification
dystrophic tissue, heart valves
dystrophic
injured tissue see calcium
