Patients with recurrent kidney stone require what steps in management?
A
Collection of stone and eval for type of stone + 24hr urine to determine what abnormalities are in the urine (depending on what’s in the urine determines pharm therapy)

24hr urine collection for kidney stone reveals high calcium and low citrate.
What is the tx of choice?
A
Reduce intake of non-dairy animal meat, spinach, rhubarb, potatoes, peanuts, cashews, almonds
Thiazide diuretics
-lower urinary calcium if HIGH calcium
Potassium citrate/bicarb
- the citrate will help prevent more stones

Steps in management having exacerbation of BPH?
A
- PE for symptoms of bladder retention
- Bladder US to assess cc 300+
- In-and-out catheter if 300cc+
- Make sure pt is on 5 alpha reductase inhibitor and alpha blocker
