Renal Scintigraphy Flashcards
1
Q
How much of the cardiac output do the kidneys recieve?
A
25%
2
Q
What radiopharm is used in GFR studies?
A
99mTc - DTPA (Diethylene Triamine Pentaacetic Acid)
3
Q
Why is 99mTc-DTPA used?
A
It accumulates in the kidney with no tubular absorption or secretion - Uptake and clearance is solely based on GFR
4
Q
Is 99mTc - DTPA bound to protein?
A
Not in dogs (<5%) so therefore does not influence GFR - This not true in iguana which DTPA is bond to a ton of protein
5
Q
What is the gold standard for GFR?
A
inulin clearance
6
Q
Correction for kidney depth improve coorelation between inulin and percent injected uptake in what species?
A
Dogs, not cats
