Who was Vesalius?
A man who made discoveries about the anatomy by dissecting human bodies, his book the Fabric of the Human Body contained detailed drawings of the human body.
Who did Vesalius prove wrong?
Galen. Galen had made mistakes because he had mostly dissected animals not humans, for example he believed that the jawbone was in two parts however this is only for monkeys not humans

An English doctor who proved that blood flowed around the body in a one way system (blood circulation). He also showed that the heart was a pump

An English doctor who lectured on anatomy and believed in the use of observation to diagnose patients. He recorded all of his discoveries while dissecting and had detailed pictures drawn of them. He also founded a medical school in London.

Specialists hospitals like pest houses (specifically for plague victims) were set up

What methods were used to try and prevent the spread of the plague?
Quarantine (locking people in their houses), burning sweet smelling herbs, prayer, banning public gatherings and closing the pubs and theaters (because they thought they were sinful) not allowing poor people to leave London
What were the two different types of plague in 1665?
Bubonic (spread by infected fleas)
Pneumonic (spread by coughing and sneezing)
What were the main believed causes of the plague in 1665?
Miasma, contact with infected humans, Gods punishment, a belief that it was spread by the poor.
Why were there more effective prevention’s in 1665?
Because there was a strong government in London in control rather than the Catholic Church
