New ___, Catholicism
New paints and techniques which allowed more accurate and realistic pictures to be created
Some countries turned away from Catholicism, artists spent less time on religious art and more natural or representative art
Science
Why did it improve?
Galileo, DaVinci, Experiments
Galileo used telescopes to learn about the planets and help prove the Earth orbits the sun
Leonardo DaVinci was not only an amazing artist, he also came up with many new and modern ideas. These included things like the tank and helicopter
Science now use experiments and records to prove new ideas
This started a trend of questioning and challenging old ideas which had previously been accepted without question
Technology
Why did it improve?
PP, QAP, Pics, Church, Water Pumps
Printing Press
Books made more quickly, accurately and cheaply than ever before. Even pictures could be engraved and printed
Printing also took book reproduction away from the church, allowing books to contain newer ideas, and making books more widely available
Water pumps had been developed. Could have contributed to later ideas about the circulation of the blood
Religion
Why did it improve?
Middle ages - Education
Protestants, New ideas
1400s onwards banned
Middle ages the church controlled knowledge (education)
New ideas stopped = medicine held back
New ideas challenged this control and protestants were bringing new ideas to religion
From the 1400s onwards, the Church no longer banned nor discouraged human dissections, this allowed people to learn more about the body and prove Galen got things wrong
