15
Q

How does a persons occupation affect the choice of a removable prosthesis?

A

If involved in “meeting the public” appearance would be a concern. Appts/surgery/delivery should not interfere with PT’s social/occupational activities

16
Q

How will adding a prosthesis effect the flow of saliva?

A

A foreign prosthesis may stimulate an excessive flow of saliva until accustomed.
PT’s with lack of saliva may find discomfort.

17
Q

What contributes to excess or lacking salivary flow?

A

Excess could be due to paralysis of facial muscle caused by stroke. Lacking of could be from physical conditions, medications, or radiation treatment

18
Q

Successful wearing of a removable prosthesis depends mainly on what?

A

The support provided by the alveolar ridge
