Where was the Rhineland?
On the border between France and germany
why were no german troops allowed in the Rhineland?
As part of the TOV and another treaty signed in 1925 the Germans were not allowed toops in the Rhineland for Frances saftey as they feared being attacked.
Why was Hitler hesitant to send troops into the rhineland?
- France signed a treaty with the USSR to say if either got attacked they would support eachother.
- He would have lost suport of the army if it had failed aswell as been humiliated.
what was germanys army like at the time when the invaded the Rhineland?
it was very weak as it lacked essentials and any air support.
Why did Hitler go ahead with moving troops into the Rhineland?
- He wanted to challenge the `TOV
- he believed that he should have troops on his border
- he had support from many people in Britain to do so

-They condemed Hitlers action, however they had no power to do anything else.

- they were holding an election for a new president
- None of the candidates would want to plunge France into a War right away.
- France refused to act without the support of the British
What was the outcome of the Remilitarisation of the Rhineland?
-Germany succesfully moved troops into the Rhineland and the gamble paid off.
