Effect of caesura
There is still chaos in his life
Quotation that shows he is struggling at hom
“The drink and the drugs won’t wash him out”
Idea of permanence
“His blood shadow stayed on the street”
Quotation that shows futility and hopelessness
‘His bloody life in my bloody hands’ - last line of peom so its quite anti-climatic as the final stanza is also only 2 lines. Also as it is only 2 lines, as it is in the present it emphasises that he doesn’t think much of the present and more of the past. It is also an allusion to Lady Macbeth hintiing to his sense of guilt

Tautology - saying the same thing again in a different way
“Three of a kind all letting fly”
“All three”
“All”
