Q

Who was Abraham?

A

Abraham left his country to follow God, who promised him that he will have a son even though he was over 90 years old. Abraham had relations with Sarah’s servant, Hagar, who gave birth to Ishmael. However, God, in the form of three men, appeared to Abraham and told him that he will have a son through Sarah, whose name will be called Isaac because Sarah laughed when she heard the news that she will bear a child in her old age. God also told Abraham that he will destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of their sins, but he saved Lot. Lot’s wife turned to salt because she disobeyed God and turned around. Abraham had Isaac when he was 100 years old, and God asked him to sacrifice him on Mount Moriah. Abraham obeyed, but God’s angel stopped him before he killed Isaac. God promised Abraham that he will be the father of many nations and his children will be as numerous as the stars in the sky.
