What happened at the tower of Babel?
The tower of Babel is where God confused the languages of the people who were prideful because they wanted to build a tower to reach heaven.
Who was Abraham?
Abraham left his country to follow God, who promised him that he will have a son even though he was over 90 years old. Abraham had relations with Sarah’s servant, Hagar, who gave birth to Ishmael. However, God, in the form of three men, appeared to Abraham and told him that he will have a son through Sarah, whose name will be called Isaac because Sarah laughed when she heard the news that she will bear a child in her old age. God also told Abraham that he will destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of their sins, but he saved Lot. Lot’s wife turned to salt because she disobeyed God and turned around. Abraham had Isaac when he was 100 years old, and God asked him to sacrifice him on Mount Moriah. Abraham obeyed, but God’s angel stopped him before he killed Isaac. God promised Abraham that he will be the father of many nations and his children will be as numerous as the stars in the sky.
Who was Melchizedek and what is he the symbol of?
Melchizedek was the priest of Salem without a record of birth or death who offered bread and wine to Abraham after he returned from war. He is symbolic of Jesus, who is God.
Who was Rebekah and who did she give birth to?
Rebekah was Laban’s sister who gave water to Abraham’s servant and became Isaac’s wife.
Isaac had two sons, Esau and Jacob. Jacob tricked Esau to sell his birthright and tricked Isaac in giving him the firstborn son blessing, with the help of his mother.

Jacob had a vision of a staircase with angels coming up and down. He also wrestled with God to receive his blessings, and as a result, his hip was hurt. In addition, he was tricked by Laban into marrying Leah after working for 7 years because he wanted to marry Rachel, so he worked another 7 years.

Prince Schechem raped Dinah, Jacob’s daughter, so Simeon and Levi (Jacob’s two eldest sons) killed the prince when he was still recovering from circumcision
Who was Judah and Tamar and what was their relationship?
Judah, one of Jacob’s sons, did not give Tamar to his youngest child to marry after the other two sons died when they married Tamar, so Tamar dressed up at night and had relations with Judah. When they found out that Tamar was pregnant, Judah wanted to kill her, but she showed everyone his staff as proof of him being the father of the child. God allowed sinners into his kingdom because of his mercy.
Who was Joseph and what did he do in his life?
Joseph, Jacob’s favorite son, had a dream that his brothers and father would bow down before him, so his brothers, at the suggestion of Judah, sold him into slavery. In Egypt, he interpreted the dreams for many, including Pharaoh, who then made him second-in-command and gave Asenath to be his wife. As a result, he saved the world from the drought and hunger, including his family who came and bows down to him for help.

St. Paul Miki’s feast day is February 6, and he died in Japan with 25 Catholic companions. They were forced to walk 1,000 kilometers and were killed by being crucified and pierced with a lance.
