The use of peaceful means to oppose violence (e.g. hunger strikes, petitions and protest marches)
NON-VIOLENT RESISTANCE
The fair and equal treatment of all humans (e.g. equality before the law and equality of opportunity)
JUSTICE
Pardoning an individual for sin; fundamental Christian duty
FORGIVENESS
The restoration of harmony following disagreement and conflict
RECONCILIATION
Punishment by death carried out by the legitimate authority (i.e. the state)
CAPITAL PUNISHMENT
Punishment for the purpose of warning others against committing a similar rime
DETERRENCE
Punishment for the purpose of protecting other members of society
