A

God was so far above this world that no human could possible claim to know h his will.
- this created what Weber called a ‘salvation panic’ in the calvinists - they didn’t know if they had been chosen to be saved and couldn’t do anything to earn salvation

Idea of vocation or calling - before Calvinism

A

Calling to serve god- meant leaving everyday life to join a monastery.
-then Calvinist’s made the idea of a calling, meant constant methodical work in an occupation- work could not earn salvation it’s just a religious duty.
