Why did the 30 year war occur?

A

Because Catholicism starts to lose credibility and a new religion forms: Protestantism (Martin Luther, 95 theses, 1517).

The emperor Ferdinand ll of Bohemia curtailed Protestant activities sparking a rebellion. Sweden, France, Spain and Austria waged campaigns on Germans soil.

England didn’t participate because of the civil war.
