What was the outcome of the 30 year war?
The Treaty of Westphalia which gave people religious freedom and tolerance of other religions.
Why did the 30 year war occur?
Because Catholicism starts to lose credibility and a new religion forms: Protestantism (Martin Luther, 95 theses, 1517).
The emperor Ferdinand ll of Bohemia curtailed Protestant activities sparking a rebellion. Sweden, France, Spain and Austria waged campaigns on Germans soil.
England didn’t participate because of the civil war.
What happened in the English civil war?
A parliamentary monarchy formed and they wrote the Magna Carta which restricted the king’s power.

Europeans started going to India for spices and to China for silk.
Discovery of america 1492.
Who was Louis XIV?
- Did great things (wars)
- Good politician but not too smart
- Strict and aggresive
- Listened to experts and did what they said and made it seem like he made it himself
- Arrogant
What was mercantilism?
To be self sufficient and to get other’s gold.
The colonies could only trade with one country. The goal was to increase the nations wealth by the government regulating the commercial interests.
