  • A “middle way”
  • Common book of prayer, Bible written in English and clergy allowed to marry
  • Pacify Catholics - priests have to wear traditional Catholic uniform, crosses and candles placed on table

  • Denying Liz’s supremacy was punishable by death
  • Can’t leave England for mote than 6 months without losing their land this was to stop Catholics travelling to other countries and learing how to become and priest and then come back to England

  • Attempt to convert people to Catholic was treason
  • Act against Jesuits and seminary priests - becoming a Catholic priest is treason and they are all ordered to leave England in 40 days
  • Catholics can’t travel further than 5 miles
